The Challenge

Labour shortages and environmental demands

Specialty crop growers across Europe face mounting pressure. Labour shortages, rising costs, and stricter environmental regulations are reshaping how farms operate. Spraying is one of the most time consuming tractor operations yet demands precision and safety.

Growers of citrus, olives, nuts, and other high-value crops need solutions that reduce dependency on manual labour, minimise chemical use, and ensure uniform treatment across large areas. With plots often fragmented and terrain uneven, traditional equipment struggles to keep up.

Solution

KFAST autonomous sprayer

KFAST is Kubota’s answer to these challenges. Engineered for autonomy, precision, and sustainability, it delivers consistent spraying performance with minimal human intervention. One operator can manage multiple KFAST units simultaneously, unlocking new levels of efficiency.

Powered by a V3800-TIE5 diesel engine and equipped with 4-wheel drive and steering, KFAST navigates orchards with ease. Its AGC Navigation System uses RTK GPS and LiDAR for safe, accurate path following, even on slopes up to 10°.

The airblast sprayer features a 2,000-litre tank, 160 l/min pump, and 26 double nozzles, delivering high volume coverage with reduced drift. Integrated H3O technology adjusts dosage automatically using ultrasonic tree detection, cutting pesticide use by up to 25% and drift by 48%.

Smart spraying with full traceability

KFAST operates autonomously from start to finish:

  • Field setup – Define plot boundaries, inter-row spacing, and headlands.
  • Mission planning – Input spraying parameters and treatment conditions.
  • Autonomous execution – KFAST navigates and sprays with precision.
  • Data logging – All operations are recorded via the Specialty Crops Platform for full traceability.

This digital integration ensures uniform treatment, reduces chemical waste, and supports compliance with sustainability standards.

Designed for secure operation

Safety is built into every aspect of KFAST:

  • Obstacle detection – LiDAR sensors identify hazards and guide alternate paths.
  • Bumper system – Triggers automatic stops on contact.
  • Safencing® – Ensures secure operation within defined boundaries.
  • Remote monitoring – Operators can oversee multiple units from a central hub.

Together, these systems create a robust safety net that protects both workers and crops

Autonomy meets agronomic excellence

KFAST delivers measurable value for specialty crop growers:

  • Labour efficiency – Reduces reliance on seasonal workers.
  • Precision spraying – Uniform coverage with reduced chemical input.
  • Environmental impact – Reduces drift and supports responsible pesticide use.
  • Operational flexibility – Works in varied terrain and plot layouts.
  • Digital traceability – Full documentation of every treatment.

Designed for farms over 100 hectares, KFAST is ideal for growers in Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal. With standard connectivity and minimal plot to plot travel, it fits seamlessly into existing operations.
